Summer Food Safety Tips. Backyard barbeques, picnics, and outdoor parties are common throughout the summer, but warm weather makes food safety a lot more challenging. The Food and Drug Administration recommends the following to prevent food borne illnesses: wash your hands, do not mix raw and cooked foods, marinate in the refrigerator, cook food well, do not leave food out, and keep cold foods cold.
